Five minutes with… Jean-Marc and Nicola Probst of Probst Maveg
As Probst Maveg celebrates its 40th year representing Hitachi Construction Machinery in Switzerland, President Jean-Marc Probst, and his son and CEO, Nicola, share their insights on best-selling machines, the importance of relationships, and their hopes for the future.
What Hitachi services does Probst Maveg provide?
Nicola: With 120 employees spread across five sites, we provide our customers with all the services offered by Hitachi, including sales, after-sales, and machine rental.
Jean-Marc: The first machine is sold on price and relationships. But the following ones are sold on service. Therefore, we pay particular attention to providing excellent after-sales service.
What are the most popular models in Switzerland?
Jean-Marc: The most popular model in Switzerland, and the one we sell the most, is the ZX225US. It's a machine that suits the Swiss market very well.
What has been your experience of working with Hitachi?
Jean-Marc: In working with Hitachi, we have experienced the reliability of human relationships. The Japanese are very reliable people and we have enjoyed working with them over the last 40 years.
What’s the best thing about your relationship with Hitachi?
Jean-Marc: The two best things about our relationship with Hitachi is their reliability and commitment to innovation.
Nicola: I've always been able to listen to the stories my father and my colleagues have told me, and I’ve realised that our success with Hitachi in Switzerland was due to our collaboration. In other words, the desire to find solutions together.
How do you see your partnership developing in the future?
Jean-Marc: We hope to have Hitachi distribution for many years to come and that it will bring technological developments, for example in the hydrogen field, so that we can maintain our leading position in the market.
On behalf of everyone at Probst Maveg and all our customers, I'd like to thank Hitachi for helping us along the way over the last 40 years. I'd also like to look forward to the next 40 years, and I'd especially like us to work together to make machines that are more CO2-neutral, because tomorrow's challenge will be to leave a cleaner planet to our children.
