Hitachi EX2600-7 large excavator makes its debut and joins electric mining fleet
The Elatsite copper mine in the west of Bulgaria has welcomed the first Hitachi EX2600-7 in Europe. It is the 12th mining excavator at the ore mining complex, four of which are electric: two EX2500-5E and two EX2600E. The remaining models include two EX1900-6, two EX2500-6, an EX2600-6, and an EX2500-5 – all supplied by the Bulgarian Hitachi dealer, Z&M.
Unparalleled durability
The Hitachi EX2600-7 has unparalleled durability, exceptional performance, and is more than 10% more fuel efficient than the previous model. Safe to operate and maintain, the Zaxis-7 large excavator has improved walkways, handrails, and a double emergency isolator providing complete protection.
It provides a comfortable working environment for operators and is equipped with modern technological software, electronic joysticks, a new large multi-function display, air-suspension seats and air conditioning.
Innovative mining solutions
Ivaylo Nikolov, director of the complex, said “One of the biggest innovations in the machine is the 24-hour monitoring of its performance and operational condition. The excavator benefits from the ConSite Mine solution and a new load index function. This analyses structural stresses and can predict potential issues concerning the boom and arm, helping to avoid accidents.”
The investment in the new EX2600-7 is a continuation of the policy of the Elatsite mine, part of the Geotechmin Group, to achieve high levels of productivity and reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
