Is this Norway’s most scenic construction site?

A Hitachi Construction Machinery Zaxis-7 excavator is operating on a road construction project in one of the most scenic locations in Norway. The ZX225USLC-7 was delivered to Tromsø-based Workinn AS by authorised dealer Nasta AS.

A postcard perfect job site

The Zaxis-7 excavator is working on a variety of tasks as the contractor replaces gutters and carries out repairs along the picturesque road at Sjøtun on the island of Kvaløya. The road is a favourite with tourists in motorhomes, thanks to the stunning scenery, so the upgrade is an important project.

A short-tail swing excavator is perfect for this project, explains operator Eskil Karlsen: “On jobs like this, you need an excavator that takes up little space. The roads here are very narrow so the ZX225USLC-7 is absolutely perfect.”

Ultimate excavator cab comfort

Karlsen, who previously operated a Zaxis-5 excavator, is impressed with some of the new Zaxis-7 features. “It’s a real boost to operate the excavator,” he says. “You can immediately feel the difference in the cab environment.”

“The noise levels are also much lower, so it’s easy to communicate with people around you,” Karlsen adds. “Having a new machine definitely motivates you. I certainly can’t complain, and on days like this it’s nice to be at work here!”

He is very impressed with the new excavator: “I think it's fantastic in terms of comfort, ergonomics and efficiency. Compared to machines I have driven in the past, this one is by far the best.”

One of the new ZX225USLC-7s is being operated by Jonny Langø to widen the road. He has worked for the company since 2009 and previously used a Hitachi ZX225-3. The quiet operation and comfortable cab of the Zaxis-7 machines are most notable for him. "It's very nice to have a new machine now. First of all, I have had a calmer and nicer working day. The biggest difference is probably the sound. The climate in general has become better inside the cab as well.”
