Celebrating a successful Bauma 2022

Bauma returned with a bang this year, and the anticipation was evident with many of our customers, people and partners very excited to be back in Munich.

The Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) (HCME) stand saw a huge amount of interest in our new range of electric machinery and new wheeled excavators, with our full range of equipment also gaining significant attention. 

Old favourites

One of the key highlights of the stand, in keeping with our 50th anniversary theme ‘celebrating success, building our future’, was the iconic UH04 excavator from the early days of Hitachi in Europe. Fully restored to its former glory, the excavator was a big hit with Hitachi fans (including our biggest ‘super-fans’), representing both the reliability of Hitachi excavators and the progress that has been made over these last 50 years. 

Presenting our people

Another popular feature was the series of keynote presentations held in the HCME hospitality area. Our colleagues and dealers gave informative presentations covering topics from digitalisation to the Hitachi value chain services and our Solution Linkage offerings.

This was complemented by an interactive display to celebrate our milestones over the last 50 years, which allowed visitors to explore our history using digital displays. This highlighted our key pillars looking to the future: the shift to digitalisation, customised solutions, expanding our value chain services, and strengthening our relationships with people and partners.

Silver linings and golden years

Visitors flocked to the Hitachi merchandise store to help combat the changeable weather at the event: Hitachi umbrellas sold out within the first couple of days as the rain fell, and sunglasses then became the next best-seller as sunshine graced the event. By far the most popular purchase of the week was the scale model of the ZX890LCH-7 however, perhaps due to the position of the shop right beside the ZX890LCH-7 large excavator. 

Another highlight of the week was receiving some wonderful anniversary messages from well-wishing colleagues, customers, dealers and partners, who have helped to shape the history of HCME over the last five decades.
