The first-ever sale by Hitachi Construction Machinery Nederland (HCM NL) was made shortly after it opened for business in 1972.

From rigs to riches

The fledgling company sold a U106ASL-2 hydraulic pile driver – with a 29.5m leader – to Nederhorst Grondtechniek, based in Gouda. The piling rig was sold for ƒ382,150.80, or €173,412.47 in today’s currency, and was delivered to the satisfied customer in November of that year.

Since that time Hitachi has expanded all across Europe, and offers the largest range of hydraulic excavators in the world – in fact, the manufacturer no longer sells piling rigs at all!
