Hitachi ZX210LC-6 excavator reaches new heights in Austria
The Kaunertal Glacier in Austria offers 55km of smooth slopes, reaching an altitude of over 3,000 metres. Here, a Hitachi Zaxis-6 medium excavator is being put to work at the significant height of 2,800 metres for ski resort Kaunertaler Gletscherbahnen GmbH. With three descents over 1,000 metres in altitude, it required an excavator that could stand up to the significant challenges posed by this incredible site.
Challenging environment
A ZX210LC-6 is being used to move lift towers and complete heavy rock sand works on the popular slopes, which welcome around 150,000 tourists a year. Designed with durability in mind, the crawler excavator has proven to be the perfect machine for weathering the challenging conditions.
The cold and snowy environment of the glacier demands the greatest efficiency from construction machinery, which is why this excavator’s low fuel consumption is ideal. The tilt and rotary tilt modes also offer incredible versatility for this specific project. The ZX210LC-6 joins two other Hitachi medium excavators on this site: a ZX300LC-7 and ZX250LC-6.
The newest addition is from the rental fleet of German Hitachi dealer Kiesel (Kiesel Mietpark). This offers a broad range of Hitachi models, including standard and special application machines, as well as wheel loaders.
