Norwegian Hitachi dealer uncovers iconic excavator
The machine arrived at Nasta’s base in Larvik in January 2019, much to Espen’s delight. “It was my decision to buy the machine, in fact I wanted it so bad that I would have bought it myself – and kept it in my own back yard! I’ve been working with Nasta for 19 years and this is the oldest machine that I’ve come across. Indeed, we knew that it was the first excavator we’d found that had been produced before 1985.”
However, it wasn’t until a colleague made a closer inspection that it was revealed just how significant this find had been. When he saw the serial number and identified the machine, Espen was amazed. The UH083 had been manufactured in Japan in 1982 and was one of the first machines exported to Norway’s newly appointed dealer for arrival in June that year.
