Portuguese contractor highly satisfied with new ZX135US-7 excavator

In April, the Portuguese company Vitor Almeida e Filhos (VAF) took delivery of a Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) ZX135US-7 short-tail swing excavator to join its existing fleet of five HCM machines.

After being founded in the early 1970’s and attaining a permit for construction in the 1980’s, VAF has since maintained a good reputation in this sector. Based in Mamarrosa (Aveiro) they mainly specialise in road construction, infrastructure and urban developments.

A machine that fits the brief

Given the demanding nature of the industry, it’s no surprise that VAF requires the most reliable excavators for its fleet. The new HCM ZX135US-7 is intended to improve productivity on its first assignment, a construction site for a new Mercadona supermarket in Figueira da Foz, Portugal.

Company administrator Vitor Rodrigues says that the medium excavator is an ideal fit for VAF: “It is a versatile and economical machine, and its compact size means that it is well suited to our type of work. And overall, the HCM -7 series excavators are really good, with a low level of fuel consumption.”

VAF has bought a range of other HCM machines in the past – and rates them all very highly! “Our commitment to HCM is related to the reliability of the machines,” says Vitor. “Our Hitachi fleet has not given us any problems.”

The delivery was made by approved HCM dealer, Moviter, which has worked alongside and proved to be extremely helpful to VAF for many years. Vitor says: “We have invested in this relationship with Moviter, because they give us a lot of confidence. The quality of the equipment is reflected in the quality of our job sites. The reliability of HCM gives us the guarantee of finishing the projects, in respect of the contract requirements.”
