Top six Hitachi highlights of 2024
Transforming fleet management
With the launch of CONNECT in October, HCME took fleet management solutions to the next level. This new multi-fleet system provides the most up-to-date data, custom reporting, and geofencing features for construction equipment. Accessible via tablets, smartphones and available in 24 languages, CONNECT integrates seamlessly with Hitachi’s existing Global e-Service account, ConSite solution and Parts Catalogue.
“For customers wanting to improve efficiency and enhance performance, CONNECT is here to make it happen,” says Pooja Gupta, HCME Product Manager, Solution Linkage. “We are already starting to see its positive impact across Europe, thanks to its multi-fleet capabilities, and we look forward to sharing its features and benefits with visitors at Bauma next year.”
Customer-first philosophy
A notable achievement in 2024 was the launch of HCME’s Financial Solutions approach, which goes beyond off-balance financing to include retail finance solutions. This initiative supports business growth and financial flexibility, a crucial step in today’s competitive landscape. “We listened to our customers and delivered solutions that make sense for their businesses,” shares André de Boer, HCME General Manager for Rental and Used Equipment. “This shift is a testament to our customer-first philosophy, and it’s only the beginning.”
Expanding rental solutions
In 2024, the Hitachi Premium Rental initiative celebrated a significant milestone: a large order for rent-to-rent machines and attachments from HCME’s Italian dealer, SCAI. The order included advanced tiltrotators and grapples designed to enhance performance on diverse job sites. “We are investing in our rental fleet to ensure our customers have access to versatile solutions,” says Mark Luijten, HCME Product Support Manager. “SCAI played a pivotal role in advancing our Premium Rental programme and with this continuous collaboration, we hope to expand our rental offerings in 2025.”
An electrifying year
Another highlight of 2024 was the electric excavator demo tour, which began in Sweden and continued through Denmark, Belgium, and Italy.
Several zero-emission models, including the ZX55U-6EB, ZX85-6EB and ZE135, along with an energy storage system and charging units developed by Alfen NV, were put to the test by specially selected customers.
Reflecting on the experience, Product Manager Nori Kinugawa said: "Introducing the electric concept was no easy task. It was completely new to our customers, and there were many challenges in making the solution fit seamlessly into their operations." While the journey had its ups and downs, it proved to be a valuable learning opportunity.
"The tour was absolutely a practical step forward for both us and our customers who were willing to embrace Hitachi’s new electric solutions." With more locations planned for next year, including a stop-off at Bauma next April, the electric excavators could be powering their way to you in 2025!
Strengthening relationships
Meanwhile in France, 2024 brought some challenges with political instability and high interest rates impacting investment across the construction market. Yet, Hitachi Construction Machinery France remained committed to growth, taking advantage of exhibitions such as Intermat 2024, held in Paris.
The 928m² stand showcased ten machines, including two new electric models and several fuel-efficient Zaxis-7 machines, under the theme ‘Partner to Accelerate Change’. “This event was a pivotal moment for us,” says Thibault Le Diffon, HCM France Marketing and Communication Manager. “Intermat strengthened our ties with partners and emphasised our commitment to sustainable solutions in a competitive market.”
Exceptional machines
In the Netherlands, 2024 was marked by a unique achievement – the sale of two EX1200-7 ultra-large excavators. Designed for the mining industry and with an operating weight of up to 118,000kg, this machine is rarely sold in the Netherlands due to its massive size.
“Normally the largest machine that we sell throughout the year is a ZX490 and once in a while a ZX890, so this is unique for our market,” says Evert van den Broek, Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist, HCM Netherlands. “To sell two in one year is exceptional and we hope for an equally successful 2025”
It’s clear 2024 has been a busy yet rewarding year for HCME and our dealer network. As we move into 2025, we remain dedicated to meeting your needs – with a clear focus on making life easier in tough environments.
