In Response to the Japanese Government’s Declaration of a State of Emergency Regarding the Spread of COVID-19
April 8, 2020
Last evening, the Japanese government issued the declaration of a state of emergency regarding the spread of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) to seven prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Osaka, Hyogo, and Fukuoka, and enforced the declaration from today.
The Hitachi Construction Machinery Group has responded to regulations in each country or region, limiting its activities to ensure the safety of employees and their families, as well as our customers and other stakeholders, and has also responded flexibly by adjusting production at our production bases in Japan in light of the decline in demand worldwide.
In response to the declaration of the state of emergency, employees in the affected prefectures will work from home and tele-working more thoroughly than ever, and cooperate to prevent the spread of the infection.
In addition, employees even in areas other than the 7 prefectures will promote tele-working to the extent possible, in response to requests from each prefecture and local government.
Although the Japanese government’s declaration of a state of emergency expires on May 6, the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group plans to resume normal business operations from May 11, including business holidays.
