Response to the Earthquake and Tsunami in Sumatra, Indonesia

It is with the utmost respect and sympathy that we send our condolences to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that struck Sumatra on December 26, 2004.
We at Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. pray for the swift recovery of the area in this time of great sorrow.
In response to the damage from both the earthquake and tsunami in many parts of Asia, HCM has offered as much as 100 million in support through such measures as extending the use of its machinery for cleanup and dispatching operators to assist in these efforts.
The exact details of aid will be determined in cooperation with local subsidiaries in affected areas upon assessing the needs of each area.
