Hitachi Construction Machinery Establishes New Development Company in India
Indian engineer involved in development and design work
Tokyo, December 3, 2024 – Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6305; “Hitachi Construction Machinery”) is pleased to announce the establishment of Hitachi Construction Machinery Development Center India Private Limited (“Hitachi Construction Machinery Development Center India”), a consolidated subsidiary that will develop and design construction machinery in India, in late December to strengthen the product development capabilities of the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group. The company will target and hire exceptional talent within India in the fields of IT and mechanical engineering and expand to a scale of 200 engineers and designers by FY2027.
India is a region with an abundant supply of advanced mechanical engineering and IT talent. The development site located in Hubballi, Karnataka state was selected as a smart city under Indian policy, and the city is expected to continue to expand with the development of administration, education, infrastructure, etc. In addition, many science-oriented universities and startups are also concentrated in the region. The development of an environment with a large pool of exceptional talent led the company to establish a development company in this region to strengthen the product development capabilities of the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group.
In addition to playing a role in the development of globally deployed products such as hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders, Hitachi Construction Machinery Development Center India will also develop various common underlying technologies concerning construction machinery operator cabs, structures, etc. Furthermore, Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) will be utilized to run technical calculations, simulations, and analysis on computers as well as analyze the strength of structures, heat transmission of machine, and noise and vibration in machinery, etc. Going forward, Hitachi Construction Machinery Development Center India plans to recruit talented engineers in India, train them in Japan, and start full-scale operations in April 2026.
