* The following is a summary of the "2025 New Year's Greeting" to Hitachi Construction Machinery Group employees.
Masafumi Senzaki
President and Executive Officer, COO
Happy new year, everyone. With the start of the new year, I am sending out this greeting regarding a few things that I would like to share with all of the Kenkijin.
Based on the conviction that "the front lines are the source of all corporate activities," last year I continued to visit the sites where our construction machinery operates, journeyed around the world, and engaged in dialogue with customers and dealers as well as the Kenkijin. Furthermore, in July we introduced the new "LANDCROS" concept which symbolizes the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group's desire to deliver innovative solutions to all stakeholders. We have gained the support of our stakeholders regarding the direction of solving issues by providing innovative solutions to customers together with our advanced products as well as our open approach of cooperating with external partners.
Last year, the Noto earthquake in Japan occurred on January 1, and efforts to support the recovery and reconstruction of the affected areas are ongoing. Around the world, the grim situation in Russia and Ukraine continues to be severe, and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict remains tense. Moreover, many countries including Indonesia, India, Japan, and the U.S. held elections, and high interest rates in Europe and the U.S. continued to impact the demand for construction machinery throughout the year.
However, even under such circumstances, we at Hitachi Construction Machinery made steady progress on our second start-up and focused our efforts on strengthening our structure for medium- to long-term growth to become a true solutions provider that offers innovative solutions to customers. In terms of business performance, value chain businesses such as the parts and service business supported the entire business even as the demand for new machinery declined, and we are starting to sense that the Medium-term Management Plan that we are promoting is heading in the right direction. This is due to the hard work by all of the Kenkijin, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude.
We have now reached the halfway point of the "BUILDING THE FUTURE 2025" Medium-term Management Plan, which started in April 2023. Centered around four core strategies consisting of "delivering innovative solutions for customer needs," "enhancing value chain business," "expanding business in the Americas," and "strengthening human capital and corporate capabilities," let us check the progress of the measures set by each business unit, region, and corporate division and implement any necessary additional measures.
With the start of 2025, I would like everyone to reflect once again upon the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group vision to "Ensure a prosperous land and society for the future; we contribute toward realizing a safe and sustainable society." Our business activities truly embody this vision, and I would like everyone to think about how your daily activities contribute to the realization of a safe and sustainable society.
In closing, I would like to wish the Kenkijin of the Hitachi Construction Machinery Group, who are playing an active role around the world, and their families health and happiness in the new year. It is up to each and every one of you to realize the "LANDCROS" concept. Let us work together to make 2025 the best year yet.
