HCM Group Participates in Global Lights-off Campaign for Earth Hour 2016
Hitachi Construction Machinery Group supported Earth Hour, an environmental campaign hosted by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and implemented an initiative which turned off indoor lights and outdoor signs at bases across the globe for a period of 60 minutes.
Earth Hour was held on March 19 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and is the world’s largest environmental campaign where people switch off their lights at the same time on the same day to show they care about stopping climate change and want to protect the earth’s environment. Twelve companies and 16 bases in the HCM Group participated in the campaign. The lights-off period was also extended at many bases resulting in a 4,575kWh reduction in electrical power consumption.
Hitachi Construction Machinery (China) took the initiative to the next level by also asking their suppliers to participate.
HCM Group will continue activities that contribute to global environmental preservation and preventing climate change.
