Private-sector Training for School Teachers

Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. carried out private-sector training for school teachers from August 1 to 3, 2016. The training program, which has been in place since 2011, allows school teachers to experience corporate activities firsthand. The aim is for teachers to gain a real sense of management strategies based on management philosophy, customer relations and cost awareness, and apply this knowledge to improve future classes and school affairs. This year 13 teachers participated.

The first day involved classroom lectures on corporate philosophy, CSR and environmental initiatives at HCM headquarters. Additionally, participants toured the Hitachi Institute of Management Development, which is located in the same building, and learnt about the history of Hitachi’s human resources training.

On the second day, participants visited the Tsuchiura Works, Technical Training Center, and Kasumigaura Institute. At the Tsuchiura Works, they observed monozukuri manufacturing processes and safety management. While at the Technical Training Center, they looked in on practical training and a demonstration of an actual machine in operation. Day three was held at the Kasumigaura Institute, where the educators directly experienced a part of the monozukuri process by trying out a welding simulator.

We received a range of feedback from the participants, who commented that they had understood initiatives and how things should be as an organization in the private-sector, could grasp the importance of CSR and compliance, and that it was memorable to be able to have experiences like the welding simulator aside from classroom lectures. We will continue to implement this training program in the future.
