Environmental Education and Health Promotion Event at Lake Biwa Museum (Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra)
On July 8, 2017, Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra Co., Ltd. held the 1st Lake Biwas Botejako* Class for parents and their children at the Lake Biwa Museum in Shiga Prefecture. Concurrently, a health promotion event to tour and experience the Kusatsu Aquatic Botanical Garden on the Karasuma Peninsula was held. This was a joint plan created with health instructors.
Ninety-seven people participated in these activities. This included President Murasugi and 26 children of Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra employees.
The museum’s curator gave a lecture on the history of Lake Biwa, after which participants toured the Lake Biwa Museum. This was the first time the company conducted environmental training outside of the company based on the theme of the ecosystem. The children showed a deep interest in how the environment, which encompasses Lake Biwa and the fish that live in the lake, has changed. For instance, the City of Koka, where Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra is located, was at the bottom of Lake Biwa in ancient times. After the museum tour, participants partook in the health promotion event, which included a walking tour through the surrounding area.
Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra is slated to plan environmental education activities outside the company related to the ecosystem, including the wild birds and plants of Lake Biwa.
