On July 15, 2017, Hitachi Construction Machinery (China) (HCMC) opened up its plant to visitors. This event has been held each year since 2014. This marks the fourth year of the event. Family members of employees are invited to tour the plant. The goal is for family members to understand the work and corporate culture of Hitachi Construction Machinery by giving them the opportunity to experience construction machinery and production sites, which they are unfamiliar with, first hand.

This year 77 families, a total of roughly 240 people visited the plant. This was the largest crowd we had in the four years of this event. There were a number of activities that made for a fun time, including a tour of the plant, hydraulic excavator demonstration, mini excavator ride, and panels describing HCMC’s corporate culture. Children representing the Hitachi Construction Machinery Xi Wang Elementary School, which is supported by HCMC, were also invited to the event. Children were allowed to participate in each activity, and there was an environmental protection classroom and eco-themed games to enjoy so that children could have fun learning about the environment.

One new activity involved getting people to press “Like” on the SNS WeChat, which HCMC is participating in. This is a part of its activities for July, which was brand promotion month. A number of people participated. Expanding this to the families and friends of employees will be a good opportunity for a wider audience to gain an understanding of Hitachi Construction Machinery.

HCMC plans to continue to hold its open plant day in the future.
