HCM received the Judges’ Honorable Mention Award at the 6th Contest for Corporate Activities on Biodiversity
HCM received the Judges’ Honorable Mention Award at the 6th Contest for Corporate Activities on Biodiversity for its desert afforestation balancing forest restoration and community revitalization through water bucket relay for the future.
The HCM Group has been taking part in desert afforestation in Horqin in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China since 2004 together with Green Network, a Japanese NPO. With the goal of contributing to desert afforestation and community revitalization, Hitachi Construction Machinery (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (HCS) and Hitachi Construction Machinery (China) Co., Ltd. (HCMC) have been involved in restoring some 33,000 square meters (cumulative to date) of forest into green space with the cooperation of all of HCS dealers and HCMC suppliers based on 10-year plans. These activities help to not only block wind and sand, they increase CO2 absorption, promote resource recycling, and improve biodiversity. Also, afforestation activities led by the local community create jobs in the community.
About the 6th Contest for Corporate Activities on Biodiversity
