Volunteer Blood Donation Drive at Singapore Blood bank (Hitachi Construction Machinery Asia and Pacific Pte. Ltd.)

In collaboration with the Singapore Red Cross Society, Hitachi Construction Machinery Asia and Pacific held its first CSR volunteer activity of 2023 at Singapore Blood bank Westgate Tower on May 4. 6 volunteers participated in blood donation drive at Singapore Blood bank Westgate Tower.
Hitachi Construction Machinery Asia and Pacific have been arranging blood donation drives in the past and after the covid pandemic, this was the first blood donation drive held.
The volunteers must be in general good health and maintain a healthy haemoglobin level of at least 12.5g/dl for females and 13.0g/dl for males to donate blood.
Some of volunteers experienced blood donation for the first time, one of them commented, “To be honest I feel scared at first as a first timer. But after the blood donation process ended, I feel so happy that I get to contribute something to society.” The other volunteer was an expat who had been actively involved in blood donations in her home country. She was able to experience the different process in Singapore and was also mostly happy to be able to contribute to society.
With an ageing population, more advanced life-saving medical procedures, and new hospitals being established in Singapore, more blood will be needed every year. Moving forward, Hitachi Construction Machinery Asia and Pacific aims to continue this activity every quarter to contribute to society.
