Opening Ceremony Held for Mining Machinery Component Remanufacturing Plant in Kazakhstan
Eurasian Machinery LLP (Head office: Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan; President: Kemal Cetinelli; "Eurasian Machinery"), an affiliated company of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6305; President and Executive Officer: Masafumi Senzaki; "Hitachi Construction Machinery"), held an opening ceremony on October 8 for a component remanufacturing plant that will primarily handle the key components of mining machinery.
The newly opened remanufacturing plant enhances the functionality of the component repair center established in the Karaganda region of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2020. In addition to providing conventional repair and maintenance services for mining machines and components, the expanded facility will now also remanufacture components primarily for ultra-large hydraulic excavators, dump trucks, and other equipment used in the mining, construction, and oil industries.
The Hitachi Construction Machinery Group has been strengthening its efforts to contribute to the achievement of a circular economy*, particularly through its remanufacturing business in regions around the world such as Japan, Australia, and Africa, where it actively promotes the recycling and reuse of components locally. By launching the remanufacturing business in the Central Asia region, where medium- to long-term growth is expected, Eurasian Machinery aims to strengthen the local service system while establishing a sustainable resource-circulating business model.
*Circular economy: A social system that goes beyond a reuse-based economy for the purpose of resource recycling and environmental conservation, and also takes economic development into consideration.
Background
Central Asian countries, including the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, are rich in underground resources such as oil, natural gas, iron ore, copper, uranium, and rare earth elements. As a result, the mining and energy extraction industries are thriving, and the demand for mining machinery is expected to continue increasing in the future.
Since the 1990s, Hitachi Construction Machinery has delivered numerous ultra-large hydraulic excavators and dump trucks for mining to Central Asia, and in 2018, the company established Eurasian Machinery in the Republic of Kazakhstan as a joint venture with a local partner. At present, Eurasian Machinery has more than 10 branches among five Central Asian Countries and Armenia, and approximately 500 mechanics are engaged in maintenance and repair operations. To further expand the service system in the Central Asian market, Eurasian Machinery has enhanced the functionality of the existing base with this addition of a remanufacturing plant.
